In the County of Lac Ste. Anne, I worked as a Deputy Superintendent of Schools in a district of 4000 students. Learning about the politics of schools was both frustrating and challenging. It prepared me by teaching me things to do and things to avoid. As a Principal and Vice-Principal in Fox Creek School, I learned that I could assist students by working with their teachers. I enjoyed having more contact with parents and community members. I learned that some decisions, even good decisions, sometimes pleased no one. I enjoyed being a school and district administrator because I understood more about schools and people. My impact on students, while indirect, was positive. It is true that it takes a whole village to raise a child and working with parents and community, and with teachers and district was my role in our village.
