After getting over the shock that not all students liked school, I got to work with some exciting students in Grades 7 to 12. As a math and science teacher, I found Junior High students were hard on themselves and on the adults in their lives -- teachers, parents, coaches, etc. Their honesty was sometimes under appreciated. Senior High students felt the pressure of trying to learn everything or nothing, and making their way in a world that invited and rejected them. As a classroom teacher, my rewards were working with students in and out of classrooms. I liked seeing students out of the classroom. I understood and liked them better, knowing how they interacted with their friends and others when free of classroom rules.
